Microsoft 365 Copilot is a new feature that uses AI to help you draft professional content for various Microsoft 365 apps, such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Whiteboard, Microsoft Viva, and Microsoft Loop. By combining the power of large language models (LLMs) with data in the Microsoft Graph and the Microsoft 365 apps, Microsoft 365 Copilot can save you time and unleash your creativity.

How Microsoft 365 Copilot Works

Microsoft 365 Copilot is integrated into the daily apps, freeing you to focus on the most important work and less on the busy work. Working alongside you, Microsoft 365 Copilot helps unleash creativity, unlock productivity, and uplevel skills.

Microsoft 365 Copilot works by understanding your intent and context from your natural language prompts and your data in the Microsoft Graph API. It then generates high-quality content based on your prompt and data, using LLMs trained on billions of words from various domains.

You can give Microsoft 365 Copilot simple or complex prompts, such as "draft a two-page project proposal based on the data from [a document] and [a spreadsheet]" or "tell my team how we updated the product strategy." Microsoft 365 Copilot will create a first draft for you, bringing in information from your organization as needed.

You can also use Microsoft 365 Copilot to edit, summarize, rewrite, or add content to existing documents. You can even get suggested tones—from professional to passionate and casual to thankful—to help you strike the right note.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is also a content assistant. It can help you improve your writing with suggestions that strengthen your arguments or smooth inconsistencies. It can also help you learn new skills or discover new insights by providing explanations or references for the content it generates.

Microsoft 365 Copilot can help you clear your inbox in minutes by summarizing long emails to quickly drafting suggested replies.

Word

Microsoft 365 Copilot can help you analyze data and create charts with ease. You can use natural language queries to ask questions about your data or request specific charts. Copilot in Excel will then provide answers or diagrams that match your query.

Teams

Microsoft 365 Copilot can help you generate meeting agendas, action item lists, meeting summaries, or follow-up emails based on your chats and meetings. You can also use Business Chat, a new experience that works across all your data and apps, to do things you’ve never been able to do before.
